Belly Sesame – Graphic Minimalism for Babies

I find that, especially for little boys, shirts and onesies with slogans are the norm: ‘Daddy’s Boy’, ‘I Love My Mom’ etc.  While cute, it’s also a little tiring.  I’ve always been a graphic print type of person, and fell in love with these tops and onesies from Belly Sesame.  They come from husband & wife duo Alex & Kaori Walter who hail from Germany and Japan and now call LA home.  Very minimalist cool…

Print Dresses from Oasis

Oasis Flamingo Oasis Print 1 Oasis Budgie Oasis Bird

Oasis have been coming out with some really great print dresses lately (you may recognize the last one from my About page).  It’s funny, when I lived in London and worked in the city, one of the closest shops was Oasis and I never shopped there much…  Now that I am back in Canada I find myself admiring the clothes.  Unfortunately, I have to get it shipped in from either the US or the UK, where Oasis is based.  Oh well, that’s how it goes, I suppose!

I am more than familiar with the onesie.  You know, it’s that top that snaps together that babies wear.  But, apparently, it’s not just for babies anymore.  My sister, who lives in London, confirmed that it is a full blown trend for adults to wear onesies and even the British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg owns one.  Just to show how mainstream they are, you can pick one up at Marks & Spencer, and John Lewis (ie the British versions of The Bay or Sears).  And, I spotted my first onesie here in Montreal – a guy casually walking down Monkland Avenue in NDG.  To be honest, they do look like the ultimate comfort.  But out of the house?  Not sure… What do you think?  Would you wear it out of the house?  Or at all?  OnePiece calls itself the The Norwegian Original if you are in the market… There is even a Canadian version, and just in time for Canada Day!

I’m loving the recent lace trend!  I was wondering how I could incorporate lace practically into the realities of my life (food smeared on it, crawling around on the floor with baby, easy wash) when I stumbled upon these picks from Forever 21 – all under $30.  I already own the tank top (third down) and I just know that first lace top will be way too short on me (I’m 5’7″) but perhaps those shorts?  And I love the fact that they are shown on pale legs!  And, depressingly, I may also want one of those sweaters with our crazy weather around here in Montreal – short sleeves one day and snow the next….
